Fords win big at HarritonPosted Saturday, September 06, 2008 by FordsFan1 Haverford cruised to their second straight victory Friday night over the Harriton Rams, 46-0.
Although the game was close through part of the second stanza, a series of turnovers by the Rams, and big plays by Haverford allowed the Fords to go to the half leading 27-0. With the game comfortable after the first posession of the second half, Coach Gallagher sent the starters to the bench and got every player on the roster onto the field. On offense, it was the Pergolese brothers show, as both senior Dante and sophomore Andre tallied two td's a piece. Dante ran off 138 yards on 10 carries, while Andre scored on a slant pass and also logged time at QB where he scored on a qb keeper. The o-line continued their early season dominant style of play, whcich will be needed next week against Penncrest, who by the way played an extremely close game with state semi finalist Garnet Vally last night. Defensively, the red ants were their typical ball hawking, stifling selves. The Fords D allowed no positive rushing yards, with the stat sheet showing -11 for the Rams on 26 attempts. Liam McGrath is making an early season statement at corner, adding two more thefts to his 2008 pick resume, giving him four INT's in the early season. Next week the Penncrest Lions come to the Ant Hill, for one of the Fords four home appearances this season. The Lions come in with a big victory over Strath Haven in week one, and a close game with the Garnet Valley Jags last night on their record. These two teams have a history of close, physical games. It should make for an entertaining night at A.G. Cornog field, in a typical Central League dogfight. |
