2008 Fords--What to expectPosted Saturday, August 23, 2008 by Fords fan1 The 2008 edition of the Fords promises to be an aggressive, fast brand of football. The defense, lead by captains Bryce Collymore(MLB) , Kevin White(SS) and Silvio Deangelo(DE) lead a crop of talented and swift defenders that will cause havoc for opposing offenses. Employing a base 3/4 defense, the Fords plan to keep the opposing offense guessing as to where and when the pressure will come. The experienced and swift defensive secondary plands to give the front seven opportunity to make big plays.
On offfense, quarterback and captain Liam McGrath returns as signal caller employing a more wide open offense than Haverford fans may be used to. With the trio of seniors Dante Pergolese and Kevin White, and newcomer junior Matt Moriarty, the Fords can throw repetative fastballs from the tailback postion. Seniors Ed Hawi and Pete Goss man the wideout position. The fullback position will be manned by Bryce Collymore, who will be spelled by Anthony Wright. Look for a widw variety of sets and applications out of them to keep the defense guessing. The 2008 Fords will travel a rough road in the new Central League, with State AAA Finalist Garnet Valley High School, and Harriton High joining the twelve team fray. The schedule makers have given the Fords only four home games, meaning your Fords will rely on heavy road support on their journey from you, the fans. The season is full of promise. Let the games begin..... |
