2007-- A YEAR TO REMEMBER.

Posted Sunday, November 25, 2007 by Fords fan 1

Coming into the 2007 season, the Fords were confident they would be a relatively competetive team. What transpired throughout the season was more than most anticipated.

The Ford's season ended at 8-4, with one of the losses at the hands of district 1 top seed Central Bucks South. The Ford's other losses were at the hands of Conestoga(playoff team), Ridley,(State Championship contender), and Marple, a game which was played in a monsoon. The Fords posted victories over Chichester, Lower Merion, Springfield, Penncrest, Radnor, Chester, Strath Haven, and Upper Darby. For the Ford's fans, coaches, and players, it was a season to remember. The Strath Haven victory was the first time in twelve years the Fords had beaten the Panthers. It was also the first time the Fords had advanced to the PIAA playoffs. The win against Upper Darby on Thanksgiving made it three out of the last four for the Fords, a trend which they hope to continue. The senior leadership on the team was tremendous, with Greg Decina, Zach Reilly, Jacob Sheetz-Willard, and Jeff Matteis keeping as tremendous sense of unity through the difficult times. Although it is always a little sad to say goodbye to the seniors, that group can take pride in the fact that they were a part of turning the proud Ford tradition back on the enviable path.

The future looks to be just as exciting as the season gone by. Several key starters are returning, including four fifths of the offensive line, and the quarterback,(Liam McGrath) on offense. There are several key underclassmen who look to be significant additions on both sides of the ball. Let's not forget the wide variety of offense displayed this year, with veer and midline options, and shotgun zone reads added to the standard staple.

After the New Year, the Fords will be back at it in the weight room, adding to the strength and quickness displayed on the field this year. Football truly has become nearly a year round sport, and the players on this Fords team realize they must put in considerable effort to continue the forward progress made by the 2007 edition of the team. There is no doubt the effort will be well rewarded next fall.
Until next fall...............
